Real Estate Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Introducing young adults to upwardly-mobile, living-wage careers within the real estate industry.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the fall of 2020, real estate companies, and grant makers joined forces with Urban Alliance to launch the Urban Alliance Property Management Pathway (now the Real Estate Pre-Apprenticeship program). This new career pathway connects high school students, and Urban Alliance alumni with paid, real-world work experience, experienced mentors, and industry training in leasing and maintenance to support their transition to part- or full-time work within the industry.
Watch this video featuring alumni Marquise Matthews and Travis Robertson sharing their program experience and working full-time in the property management industry.

How does the program work?
For Students
The Real Estate Pre-Apprenticeship program (formerly named the Property Management Pathway program) provides students internships in the leasing or service technician field with residential properties with the goal to secure full-time employment following program completion. Leasing students learn about the management side of the industry while service techs work hands-on with the grounds crew. This pathway is paired with industry credentials by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and Project Destined, a virtual Real Estate training program where our students leave the course with a full understanding of the industry and college credits from Lehman College-CUNY.
- The Real Estate Pre-Apprenticeship program is part of our High School Internship Program. Interested students can apply here
For Employers
As an Urban Alliance job partner, local residential real estate firms have the opportunity to build a diverse talent pipeline. After completing certification training, students will begin 6-8 month internships, working 12 hours per week during the school year and 32 hours per week after graduation. Our job partners will get the first opportunity to hire interns at the conclusion of the program.
